EVRA Code of Conduct V1 February 2024
This code sets out the commercial operating practices required of EVRA membership. Members converting cars to electric vehicles (EVs) should prioritize safety, quality, and ethical considerations.
Members must uphold the standards of the EVRA.
1. Compliance with Regulations:
Members will comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards pertaining to vehicle conversion, electric vehicles, and automotive safety.
2. Safety First:
Our top priority is the safety of our customers, employees, and the public. Members will ensure that all converted vehicles meet or exceed safety standards established for electric vehicles.
3. Quality Assurance:
Members commit to maintaining high standards of quality in all aspects of vehicle conversion, including the selection of components, installation procedures, and post-conversion testing.
4. Transparency:
Members will provide clear and accurate information to customers regarding the conversion process, including the capabilities and limitations of converted vehicles, as well as any potential risks or concerns.
All customers will be fully informed of all legal and operational implications of the vehicle conversion.
All relevant information will be given to the customer including a description of the work done and a list of major parts removed and fitted.
5. Customer Satisfaction:
Members strive to meet or exceed customer expectations by delivering reliable, high-quality electric vehicle conversions and providing excellent customer service before, during, and after the conversion process.
6. Environmental Responsibility:
Members recognize the importance of environmental sustainability and will endeavour to minimize the environmental impact of our operations, including the disposal of old vehicle components and the promotion of energy-efficient practices.
Evidence must be kept and made available for the safe disposal of waste including oils and fuels.
Members must endeavour to recycle, reuse and repurpose as much of the original vehicle as possible to minimise waste.
7. Ethical Business Practices:
Members will conduct business with honesty, integrity, and fairness, treating all stakeholders with respect and dignity.
8. Continuous Improvement:
Members are committed to ongoing learning and improvement, seeking feedback from customers, employees, and other stakeholders to enhance our products, services, and processes.
Members must maintain CPD records and stay up to date with technological developments.
9. Employee well-being:
Members will prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of our employees, providing a safe and supportive work environment and opportunities for professional development.
Members must undertake to maintain industry standard practice safety methods in the workspace.
All persons working on HV parts must be suitably trained and qualified.
- Level 1 Awareness for non technical staff who may advise customers or work in the workplace near HV systems.
- Level 2 Remove and Replace for staff who are required to fit or remove parts of the HV system after making the vehicle safe using a recognised isolation procedure.
- Level 3 Diagnostics for staff investigating HV system faults but not working on live components.
- Level 4 Live Working for staff building battery packs or working on potentially live systems.
Staff must be provided with correct PPE including Class 0 1000v gloves and eye protection to BS EN166 B9.
They must also be provided with the correct special tools including a CAT III 1000v volt meter and insulated hand tools.
Adequate first aid facilities must be on hand. It is recommended that a defibrillator is available.
Workshops must have equipment needed to safely work on vehicles, this may include vehicle lifts and battery lifting trolleys depending on the type of conversion being carried out.
Members must comply with the H&SAW act with specific emphasis on safe lifting.
Members must comply with the EAW act.
Lifting equipment must be periodically inspected and tested and LOLER certificates be valid.
Plug in mains equipment must be PAT tested and certificates valid.
10. Community Engagement:
Members are encouraged to actively engage with the communities in which Members operate, contributing positively to local economies and participating in initiatives that promote sustainable transportation and environmental stewardship.
11. Confidentiality and Data Security:
Members will protect the confidentiality of customer information and ensure the security of data collected during the conversion process, adhering to best practices for data privacy and cybersecurity including GDPR compliance.
12. Accountability:
Members will take responsibility for our actions and decisions, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and transparently, and working to resolve disputes in a fair and equitable manner.
There is a complaints procedure where by any EVRA member customer may appeal to the EVRA who will investigate and mediate claims.
The EVRA may request the member company takes remedial actions.
If the member company does not make such remedies then it will be removed from the members register and may not use the EVRA benefits.
By adhering to this code of conduct, Members aim to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and responsibility in the conversion of vehicles to electric power, contributing to a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable future for all.
